PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If Philadelphia has anything in abundance, it's flavor. And no one knows it better than Philadelphians. Who doesn't know where to get the best bánh mì or doro wot or lamb biriyani in town?

Is there anything more insulting to a Philadelphian than a diner in California passing off a roast beef sandwich as a cheesesteak? How about a New York street preztel? (No, thanks.) And who wants a snow cone ever again, after the first spring day's taste of water ice?

These may be cliches, but they're our cliches. And you can't have them. So there.

Now what if you could capture that "No one likes us, and we don't care" grit as an actual flavor?

It turns out, you can.

At least, Pennsylvania-based potato chip giant Herr's thinks you can. And they're launching a line of chips called Flavored by Philly to prove it.

Until Dec. 6, they're taking Philly flavor ideas from all everyone. Submissions will be narrowed down to three finalists, and peckish Philadelphians will be able to taste them and vote for the final winner starting in the summer.

Apart from the chance to take home $10,000, and donate another $10,000 to a Philadelphia non-profit of your choice, the real prize here, of course, is the bragging rights.

"Those chips were my idea. Get your own bag."

Now, what would Gritty-inspired chips taste like? Citrus? Cheese? Fire?
