PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two people were killed and three others were wounded in a pair of shootings that happened in South Philadelphia Thursday night. The crime scenes were only about a mile apart, and the shootings happened within a matter of hours of each other.
The first incident happened around 5:30 p.m. at Third and Montrose streets in Queen Village. A 19-year-old, later identified as Kyier Ladson, was shot several times and taken to the hospital, where he died, according to the initial police report.
Police later learned that another 19-year-old was shot in the leg after he showed up to the hospital. He was in stable condition.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told media at the scene that more than 75 shots were fired from at least two different guns. Some of those stray shots hit four parked cars and five homes on the block.
“In all five of these properties, the bullet went through either a first-floor or second-floor window into the property,” he said. “Some of these properties were empty. Some of the properties were actually occupied with adults and children.”
No one else was hit by any of the gunfire.
