January is National Blood Donor Month, and right now, the San Diego Blood Bank is shining a spotlight on the everyday heroes who roll up their sleeves and quite literally help save lives. Winter is one of the toughest times of year to collect enough blood to meet patient needs, and hospitals across Southern California rely on generous donors to make sure trauma victims, cancer patients, newborns, and families facing medical emergencies have the lifesaving blood products they need.
Whether you’ve donated before or have always wondered what the process is like, this month is an opportunity to step up, give back, and truly make a difference in our community. Claudine Von Gonka, Director of Community Relations and Media for the San Diego Blood Bank, discusses the blood donation process and why the need is so critical.
