California has been experiencing dozens of large wildfires, including many right here in San Diego, including the Southern fire, the Ysabel Fire, and the Sierra Fire.
San Diego is no stranger to wildfires and other emergencies. Local American Red Cross chapters respond to hundreds of disasters each year– including wildfires – making sure those affected have a safe place to stay, food to eat and tools to help them recover.
Right now, the Red Cross urges everyone to get ready for disasters by making preparedness a priority this September during National Preparedness Month. Sean Mahoney, Regional CEO for the American Red Cross Southern California Region, discusses the need for volunteers and blood donations.
