San Diego FC earned its first home win in club history with a 3-2 victory over LAFC on Saturday night. All five goals were scored in the first half of action-packed play. SDFC scored the first three goals of the match, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in what looked like a potential rout. Christopher McVey scored the first goal in the 21st minute on a header off a set piece pass from Anders Dreyer. Onni Valakari scored 13 minutes later on a rebound after LAFC's goalie dropped a save off a set piece shot attempt from Dreyer. Just 6 minutes after Vlakari's goal, Alex Mighten scored after a brilliant pass from Jasper Loffelsend to extend SDFC's lead to 3-0.
LAFC scored twice in the final minutes of the first half to give both teams hope entering halftime. But SDFC would prevail 3-2 over LAFC, after beating the LA Galaxy to begin the year. SDFC will host the Seattle Sounders next Saturday night at 7:30 at Snapdragon Stadium.
