Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is among 32 nominees for the 2019 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.
The award, created in 2014 to honor late Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney, recognizes players around the NFL who exemplify sportsmanship on the field and each team gets to nominate one of its players.
A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community – Warrick Dunn, Hall of Famer Curtis Martin, Karl Mecklenburg and Leonard Wheeler – will select eight finalists (four in the AFC and four in the NFC) from the 32 nominees.
Dunn and Watson have a touching backstory. The former Atlanta Falcons running back through his foundation helped Watson's family get a furnished home in 2006.
The eight finalists will be listed on the Pro Bowl ballot under the NFL Sportsmanship Award category when players vote on Friday, Dec. 13.
