(SportsRadio 610) - Texans first-year offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is improving along with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.
He acknowledges with In The Loop that his first-game against the Baltimore Ravens was quite a challenge, both with his play calls and as an overall staff.
But the young Texans are coming off upsetting the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road last Sunday, with high hopes of beating the Pittsburgh Steelers this upcoming Sunday.
The guys from ITL got to know Slowik a bit Thursday, straight off the practice field.
"I would say that first game against Baltimore, my boat got rocked a little bit in some areas," Slowik said. "And then what's the impetus for growth? How do we change things, how do we fix things, how do we adjust things as a group so we can really keep building on this week-to-week? I would say that's a pretty good way of describing our offense right now.
"There was some stuff more personal as far as just play call, timing, what you're calling and when. But then there's also stuff you learn as a coaching staff, making sure we approach certain things this way in the course of a game. And there's stuff you learn as an offense that maybe even occurs between the ball being snapped. Hey, we've got to make sure we tighten this up and you guys are able to efficiently operate and get and out of the huddle, in this way, in this fashion, with this speed, so we can put pressure on the defense and get this coverage. There's a laundry list."
