Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been placed on injured reserve according to a press release by the team this afternoon.
Marty Hurney, the general manager of the team, said Newton is still experiencing foot pain since the left midfoot sprain he suffered during preseason.
He's seen two specialists who believe the injury "will take some significant time to fully heal."
This is Newton's ninth NFL season since being selected by the Panthers with the No. 1 overall choice in the 2011 Draft.
In his time on the team up to this point, he had only missed three starts before 2018, and a shoulder injury forced him to miss the final two games of the 2018 season. ... read more
