Greenville Triumph

Step one for the Greenville Triumph: win a USL League One Championship.

Mission accomplished.

Step two?

Do it again.

And with the news from the Triumph today, the man who helped raise the first banner will remain at the helm for even longer in the quest to reach that goal.

The Greenville Triumph on Tuesday announced a multi-year contract extension with Head Coach John Harkes to keep him in charge through 2023. Harkes, who also serves as the team's Sporting Director, was recently named the USL League One Head Coach of the year as well.

Harkes joined the Triumph at the time of the club's inception back in 2018. Before joining Greenville SC, Harkes spent a season with FC Cincinatti, leading FCC to a 16-6-8 record in their inaugural season. The following year, Harkes brought Greenville to a League One final in thier kickoff year, and then captured the Championship the following.

Through the first two seasons under Harkes, GTSC has reached a mark of 24-9-13. This season will see 14 players returning from the championship squad, with six playing for their third season under the banner. Under his watch, defender Brandon Fricke was named League Defender of the Year, while star Goalkeeper Dallas Jaye received Goaltender of the Year honors.
