It's no secret at all that Tony Elliot, Offensive Coordinator for Clemson, has been a major factor in the recent success of the Tigers. He's the primary play caller, the man at the sticks for an offense that once against ranked in the top ten of many of the most important offensive statistical categories in college football.
Look at Clemson's offensive statistics from just this year - a year of challenge with zero real-time preperation headed into the season - it's easy to see how happy Clemson would be with Elliot at the controls.
Over 43 points per game. Two hundred and ninety five first downs in twelve total games. A season passing rating of over 156. Nearly seven yards gained per play. An almost 88% scoring rate in the red zone.
Elliot's meticulous style and attention to detail and analytics are what many believe make him one of the most sought after targets as an OC in all of football.
How tempting?
Last year, Elliot was considered for the same position in the Dallas Cowboys' organization. And the interest from teams in The League hasn't let up this year, with even more making their interest public.
According to Josina Anderson and Adam Schefter of ESPN, at least three teams have reached out to Elliot since the conclusion of Clemson's season. The Titans and Dolphins were the first two, both seeking Elliot to interview for the same position he currently holds within their franchises.
And that wasn't the last of it. It's been reported that the Seattle Seahawks have now entered the Elliot sweepstakes, in the last few hours, attempting to gauge his interest at donning the highlighter green.
But, there's good news for Clemson fans as of now: it appears that Elliot isn't quite ready to make the jump - at least not to the two teams who reached out to him first.
It's only been a couple of hours so far, but there's not been an outward rejection of Seattle. That position might fit Elliot a bit better than Miami or Tennessee, however. With Pete Carrol at the helm, a man known for his college success, and Russell Wilson firmly suited for the type of offense that Elliot runs, the Seahawks might be the best option of the three for Tony Elliot.
