One of the premiere events in sportfishing is returning to the Upstate this week. The 2022 Bassmaster Classic is set to run this Friday through Sunday and will feature 8 fishermen from the Carolinas. Among those 8 is the Upstate's own Brandon Cobb. You can expect to hear some "Let's Go Brandon" chants at the weigh-ins. Cobb is a Greenwood Native who fished for Clemson prior to turning pro. He finished 9th in the Bassmaster Elite Series last year.
Another South Carolina notable is Summerville native Patrick Walters, who had a top 5 finish in the Elite Series in 2021. The tournament will have some international flavor as well, featuring competitors from Canada and Japan.
Fluor Field in Greenville will hold a free party Thursday from 5-8 PM to kick things off. Boats will launch Friday-Sunday at Green Pond Landing in Anderson with daily weigh-ins being held at the Well in Greenville.
