While the Atlanta Braves are coming off back to back series wins, taking two of three games from both the Brewers and Rockies, they still find themselves looking up in the National League East race as they trail the first place Mets by 13 games and are eight games back in the Wild Card race and in danger of missing the postseason for the first time since 2017.

On Monday, 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell discussed Atlanta’s struggles this season noting how the core of the team, including Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Spencer Strider, and Marcel Ozuna, have never been in a situation in which the Braves have found themselves this far on the outside looking in and having to battle back to contention.

“This group hasn’t had to overcome a lot of adversity since they got here,” Dukes said as he and Bell agreed with the Braves having reached the playoffs every year since the core players have been members of the team and for the first time since playing for Atlanta, they have to figure their way out of a position they are not familiar with.

“I just feel like this is their biggest challenge that they’ve had to go through. This team, this group of guys Mike have never been down these many games,” Dukes said as he explained why he believes the Braves’ players have to have a sense of urgency to find ways to battle back into contention.
