Clemson Baseball was swept this past weekend at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Tigers dropped three straight to UCF falling 4-2 Friday, 10-7 Saturday and 13-6 on Sunday. The Tigers came into the series at 4-0 after sweeping Binghamton in the season opening series and downing Charlotte, last Tuesday.
In Friday's game, the Knights struck first platting two in the 2nd. Clemson answered with one in the 3rd and one in the 5th, to tie the game at two after 5 innings. The game would remain tied at two, until UCF broke through for two more runs in the 9th. UCF got an RBI single from Nick Romano and scored again when Andrew Brait was hit by a pitch. They would hold Clemson in the bottom half of the 9th.
UCF would get the win in a slugfest Saturday, 10-7. They had big innings in the 5th and 8th, when they scored four in each frame. Clemson got one in the 4th, four in the 5th, one in 6th. They trailed 10-6 going into the bottom of the 9th, they were able to scratch one across, but UCF then shutdown the final inning rally to put the game away. Tiger 1st Baseman Caden Grice had two hits in the game and SS Benji Blackwell had three hits and drove in two.
The scoring started early in the series finale on Sunday. UCF scored three in their 1st at-bat, Clemson answered with four in the 1st. UCF would then get two in 3rd and one in the 5th. They would take control of the game with a 5 spot in the 7th, they added two more in the 8th. Clemson got one in their half of the 4th and 6th innings. Clemson Catcher Cooper Ingle, CF Cam Cannarella and Will Taylor all had two hits in the game.
Clemson is back in action Tuesday. They take on USC-Upstate at Fluor Field, 1st pitch is slated for 4 PM.
