Falcons new HC Arthur Smith will be offensive play caller

New Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith was officially introduced to the media on Tuesday. Smith has spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator with the Tennessee Titans, where he had full control over calling the plays.

Smith is still in the midst of interviews when it comes to the rest of his staff including his offensive and defensive coordinators.

But if you remember when Dan Quinn was hired as a former defensive coordinator, he took on the responsibility of playcaller on the defensive side of the football.

Smith was asked if he was planning to relinquish play-calling duties to his future offensive coordinator, and it appears he will follow in Quinn's footsteps.

"My number one job is a head coach of the team," Smith told the media. "So that's all three phases and every player on the roster."

"There's examples, we talk about history; there are some (head coaches) that have done really well and some that haven't been."

"I understand what my job is, and my job is to coach the entire team and also do that to call plays. And there's precedent there; that it's been done and (has) been done at a high level. So very confident you hire the right people, and it'll be a collaborative effort. And my job, like I said, I will coach the entire team."
