Furman falls at Citadel snaps 8 game Socon win streak

Furman Basketball had its eight game conference winning streak snapped with a loss to an in-state rival, last Wednesday night. A game high 22 points from Forward Jalen Slawson was not enough for the Paladins to a avoid a 69-65 loss in the Low Country to The Citadel.

The upset minded Bullsogs went up for good on an offensive put back by Brady Spence with 2:45 left. They outscored Furman 8-4 in the final minutes. The Paladins got double digit scoring efforts from Garret Hein with 11 and JP Peques with 10. Citadel had four in double digits, Stephen Clark had a team high 21. Brady Spence had a double-double of 10 points and 12 boards.


With the loss, Furman is now 21-7 overall and 12-3 in the Socon, which puts them a game behind 1st place Samford. The Paladins look to bounce back this weekend. They host East Tennessee Sunday at 6 Pm and will be looking for the season sweep. You can hear that and every Furman game this season on The Fan Upstate.
