The Furman men's basketball team travels to Cullowhee, N.C., to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts Wednesday at 7 p.m. from the Ramsey Center. The Paladins (17-10, 9-5 SoCon) suffered a 64-58 loss on Saturday against Chattanooga in Timmons Arena. Furman concluded the game shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 17.4% from behind the arch.
Jalen Slawson registered 24 points to lead the Paladins offensively as well as eight rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Mike Bothwell and Marcus Foster each contributed 11 points. Bothwell also dished out four assists during the game.
Bothwell and Slawson lead Furman on offense this season averaging 15.3 points per game each while Alex Hunter and ConleyGarrison add 13.3 and 9.6, respectively. Slawson additionally contributes a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game.
Western Carolina is currently 9-18 overall and 3-11 in the SoCon following a 69-57 loss at Wofford on Saturday. The Catamounts are led on offense by Nicholas Robinson with 25.4 points per game. Tavion McCray averages 11.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Western Carolina is under the direction of first-year head coach Justin Gray.
