The South Carolina baseball team fell just two wins shy of their first trip to the College World Series since 2012. The Gamecocks dropped two straight in the best-of-three Super Regional at Florida over the weekend.

The Gamecocks fell 5-4 on Friday, after a game that was heavily delayed by inclement weather. SC trailed 5-3 going into the ninth, they were able to plate one. Florida closer Brandon Neely shut the door after that preserving the win for the Gators.

In Game 2 on Saturday, the Gamecocks were shut out and managed just three hits in the 4-0 loss. Florida's All-American pitcher Hurston Waldrep went 8 innings, striking out 13 and walking just two in a dominate performance.

South Carolina finishes their season with 42 wins, which is the most for the program in a single season since 2016.

With South Carolina now eliminated, just one team is making its way to Omaha. That's Wake Forest who was impressive in downing Alabama in two straight games over the weekend. It gives Wake its first trip to the College World Series since 1955.
