After a decade of dormancy, the Greenville Baseball Hall of Fame has relaunched and will induct 7 new members later this month. Those being inducted include Travis Barbary, Greg Burgess, Eric Jarinko, Bob Kipper, Manning "Kingfish" Clark, Rico Dawson and Thomas Hallums.
Travis Barbary is an Easley native who played at Spartanburg Methodist College and the University Of Virginia. He has coached in the L.A. Dodges organization for nearly the last 3 decades.
Greg Burgess is the VP of Operations and Grounds at Fluor Field. He has worked with the Greenville Drive for the 1st 16 years.
"Kingfish" Clark was an institution in Greenville and was active in the Civil Rights movement. Clark played for the Greenville Black Spinners. He then opened several businesses in Greenville, including Clark's Funeral Home which is still open today.
Eric Jarinko is the General Manager of the Greenville Drive. He has served in that role for the last 11 years and has been with the team for nearly two decades.
Bob Kipper is the Pitching Coach for the Greenville Drive. He pitched for 7 seasons in the Major Leagues with the Angels, Pirates and Twins.
Rico Dawson was a Greenville native, he played for South Carolina State University and the Greenville Black Spinners. He also was in a baseball movie in the late 70's that starred Billy Dee Williams, Richard Pryor and James Earl Jones.
Thomas Hallums was a standout at South Carolina State and was named All-Conference there. He was then drafted by the New York Mets.
Clark, Dawson and Hallums will all be inducted posthumously. The Induction Banquet is set for 6PM on January 21st at Fluor Field.
