The Hub City Spartanburgers opened regular season play at the brand new Fifth Third Park, this past week. Spartanburg has minor league baseball again for the 1st time in decades.
Hub City split their 6 game inaugural home series with Bowling Green. The Spartanburgers took the win in their 1st ever official game at Fifth Third Park in downtown Spartanburg, 5-3.
The Spartanburgers followed that with a 5-4 win on Wednesday after the bullpen had an impressive showing. Bowling Green then took game three Thursday 6-5 and game four Friday, 7-2.
Hub City exploded offensively on Saturday and won 15-4. Bowling Green would take Easter Sunday's finale in the series 6-4. The Spartanburgers are now 8-8 on the season.
They will host South Atlantic League and Upstate rival, the Greenville Drive for a 6 game series this week at Fifth Third Park. The inaugural Upstate series is set to start Tuesday and run through Sunday.
The series will be the 1st ever between the Spartanburgers and the drive. The two cities have not played minor league baseball against each other since the 90's of the Greenville Braves and Spartanburg Phillies. As Spartanburg has not had minor league baseball since the 90's.
