Late game offensive struggles loom large in Gamecock loss

Offensive struggles down the stretch loomed large in South Carolina's loss to #23 Missouri, over the weekend. The Gamecocks dropped their 2nd straight game falling at Missouri 29-20, Saturday night.

The Gamecocks got two 1st half TD passes from LaNorris Sellers and led 14-12 at the half. SC got a Field Goal in the 3rd after their drive stalled in Mizzou territory, to take a 17-12 lead.


Missouri answered with a 6 play 75 yard TD drive to go up 18-17 after their attempt for a two point conversion failed. The Gamecocks then took a 20-18 lead late in the 3rd, after William Joyce hit his second field goal of the night.

Mizzou re-took the lead on a Jamal Roberts TD run, they then got the two point try to make it 26-20. Missouri would later add a FG that made it 29-20. The South Carolina offense sputtered in the final 10 minutes. They went three-and-out twice and turned it over on downs with 45 seconds.

The Gamecocks were held scoreless in the 4th quarter. With the loss, South Carolina falls to 2-2 on the season and 0-2 in SEC play. They're back in action Saturday night hosting Kentucky.
