A high school football coaching legend in the Upstate has died after long and productive life. Former Gaffney Coach Bob Prevatte passed away yesterday. Prevatte led the Indian Football program from 1956 through 1969.
During that time he turned Gaffney into a state power and established the tradition of excellence that continues, today. During Prevatte's watch Gaffney won 5 State Titles.
His nearly 120 wins at the school stood as a record until last season when it was eclipsed by current Gaffney Coach Dan Jones. The Athletic Complex at Limestone University is named in Prevatte's honor.
Coach Bob Prevatte was 98 years old.
