College Football will crown a new national champion next week. The participants are now set after two thrilling games in the College Football Playoffs, Monday night.
In the 1st of Monday's two Semifinal games, Michigan edged Alabama 27-20 in Overtime to win the Rose Bowl. The Wolverines capped off a TD drive with 1:35 left to tie the game and send it to OT. In the extra frame, Michigan scored on a Blake Corum TD run to go up 27-20. They then stopped Alabama on 4th and goal from the 3yard line to preserve the win.
In the nghtcap, Washington downed Texas 37-31 in the Sugar Bowl. The game was tied at 21 going into the half. Washington's 10-0 third quarter advantage gave them a 31-21 lead heading to the 4th. They extended the lead to 34-21 after getting a field goal.
Texas responded scoring a TD with 7:20 left to play. The two teams traded field goals down the stretch. Washington was able to stop Texas on their final drive in the closing seconds, to seal the victory.
Michigan and Washington are both unbeaten and will meet in the National Title Game, Monday in Houston. It's the 1st National Title Game appearance for either program in the playoff era.
