This past Friday night marked the opening round of the playoffs for teams from around the Upstate. Both 5A divisions featured some teams getting a 1st round bye. In 1A through 4A everybody played in the 1st round.
Coming into the playoffs I was critical of the fact that 32 teams statewide each class make the playoffs. To me and others critical of that move there's too many teams that make the postseason. To support my criticism of that, 25 games across the classes in Upstate brackets were decided by 21 or more points. Showing the lack of competitiveness from the matchups due to having 32 teams in each class, statewide.
Here are the results from teams around the listening area.
