
The high preseason expectations surrounding Furman Football didn't seem to phase the Paladins, as they opened their season with a decisive win Thursday night.
In a game hear of The Fan Upstate, Furman the 6th ranked team in the national FCS poll downed Tennessee Tech 45-10 at Paladin Stadium.
Tech kept the game competitive early on, Furman led 7-3 after the 1st quarter and 21-10 at the half. A 21-0 4th quarter allowed the Paladins to pull away.
The Paladin defense was opportunistic Thursday night, as they forced 4 interceptions. Two of those were returned for interceptions, the first by standout veteran DB Travis Blackshear. In the 21-0 run in the 4th, Linebacker Dan Scianna got the second pick 6 for the Paladin D.
Furman RB Dominic Roberto had two rushing TD's on the game, as the Paladins outgained Tennessee Tech 194-79 on the ground. Furman is 1-0, they are back in action Sept. 9th when they travel to Columbia to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. You can hear every Furman game, all season long on The Fan Upstate.
