A football coach at one the Upstate's more prominent program is stepping down after just one season at the helm. Greenville High's Jaybo Shaw has announced his resignation.
His exit comes after being hired less than a year ago. In Shaw's lone season the program struggled to a 2-9 finish after winning 10 games each of the last 3 consecutive seasons.
Before his move to Greenville, Shaw served as Head Coach at Both Wayne County and Rabun County High Schools. He led both programs to double digit win seasons and deep runs in the Georgia State Playoffs.
Shaw served as an Assistant Coach under his father Lee Shaw. Before his coaching career Jaybo played QB at Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern. His brother Connor played QB for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Greenville High will now look to hire another new coach in less than a calendar year. The Red Raiders made the Class 4A Upper State Title Game in 2021, 2022 and 2023 under then Coach Greg Porter.
He then left to become the Head Coach at Laurens. Greenville High played in Class 5A this season and is slated to do so next season, as well.
