In their inaugural season the Hub City Spartanburgers will be playing for a championship. The Burgers swept Bowling Green in two straight games to advance. They won Thursday night's game 10-5 in extra innings.
The game was tied at 4 in the 8th inning. Hub City scored in the top of the 9th to go up 5-4. The Hot Rods answered in the 9th to tie it. The Burgers then brought in reliever Mailon Felix. He was able to work his way out of a bases load jam with no outs to send the game to extra's.
The Burgers then put up a 5 spot in their half of the 10th. Felix then left two Bowling Green runners stranded to close the game out.
Hub City will take on Brooklyn Cyclones in the South Atlantic Championship Series. Game 1 will be Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn. Game Two is Tuesday night at Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg. If needed, Game Three would also be in the Sparkle City.
