It did not take long for the Spartanburgers to show Hub City what winning felt like as the hometown team took down Bowling Green on Tuesday night by a score of five to three. With nearly 5,000 fans in attendance, the city of Spartanburg showed their support in an unwavering capacity.
The Hot Rods of Bowling Green lived up to their name and came out hot in the first inning beating up on Leandro Lopez and plating three runs to start the game. Hub City then plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning to cut the lead to one. The first run came on a long ball from Dylan Dreiling claiming the park's first home run and getting the home crowd on their feet for the first time.
The Spartanburgers then plated one run in the second and two runs in the third which proved to be enough to hold off the Hot Rods of Bowling Green. Joey Danielson gets credit for the win on Tuesday in just over two innings pitched.
The Hub City Spartanburgers are back in action tonight hosting Bowling Green at 6:35pm. Josh Trentadue will get the start for Hub City while Marcus Johnson will get the start for Bowling Green.
