Clemson's football season has come to a close after a hard fought playoff loss on the road this weekend. #5 Texas held off a valiant effort from Clemson to win 38-24, on Saturday.
The Tigers struck 1st on a Cade Klubnik TD pass to Antonio Williams. Texas then answered with a 75 scoring drive to tie the game 7-7 after the 1st. The Longhorns outscored Clemson 21-3 in the 2nd quarter. Their running game got going and Texas took a 28-10 lead into the half.
Texas got a 3rd quarter field goal to take their largest lead of the game at 31-10. Clemson scored late in the 3rd on a 25 yard TD catch from RB Jarvis Green. The score from the Dutch Fork product made it 31-17 Texas, going into the 4th.
Clemson then scored on Klubnik's 3rd TD pass of the game to make it 31-24. Texas RB Jaydon Blue would then score on a 77 yard TD run to make it, 38-24. The Longhorn defense would hold from their to seal the win. Clemson's defense allowed almost 500 yards of total offense and over 290 on the ground.
Clemson ends the season with a 10-4 record and another ACC Title. The Tigers have won 10 or more games in 13 of their last 14 seasons. They've also won 8 conference championships since 2014.
Texas is now 12-2, they'll advance to take on Arizona State in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Day.
