North Carolina Basketball cruised to a win Tuesday night in their opening round game game in the NCAA Tournament. Despite turning it over 4 times in the early going, the Tar Heels tore into San Diego State on their way to a 95-68 win in Dayton.
UNC was up 16-11 in the 1st half and went on a 17-3 run to seize control. The Heels put up 47 1st half points and led by 24 at the break. They shot 58% from three point range on the game.
Four Tar Heel players were in double figures, Guard RJ Davis led the way with a game high 26. Seth Trimble came off the bench and added 16. The UNC reserves accounted for 32 points on the night.
North Carolina will now advance to take on the South Region's 6 seed Ole Miss. The Rebels won 22 games on the season and were 10-8 in SEC play in the regular season. That game is set for Friday with tipoff slated for around 4PM.
