Facing the team's longest Big South Conference road trip of the season, USC Upstate men's basketball continued its road warrior tendencies, remaining undefeated away from home in conference play behind an 85-78 victory Wednesday night at Hampton.
Claiming victory, the Spartans have won five straight road contests, fashioning the program's longest road winning streak during the Division I era (2007-pres.). The win also improves Upstate to 7-2 in league play with the team's seven Big South victories tying the 2019-20 season for the most conference victories in a season during the Big South era (2018-pres.).
Propelling the Spartans to victory, senior forward Bryson Mozone led a group of four double-figure scorers with a career-high 26 points. He shot 50.0 percent (7-of-14) from the field, 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from three, and 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the free throw line while adding a team-high eight rebounds.
Joining Mozone in double-figures, freshman guard Jordan Gainey, senior guard Dalvin White, and junior guard Mysta Goodloe tallied 18, 13, and 12 points, respectively. For Gainey, he's tallied 16 or more points in each of Upstate's nine conference games while Goodloe's total tied a career-high. The Spartans are back in action Saturday hosting Campbell for a 4 PM tip.
