Tuesday night marked a historic moment as the 1st ever game was played at a brand new ballpark in the Upstate.
Fifth Third Park in downtown Spartanburg opened with " A battle of the 'Burg" at the college level, as Wofford downed USC-Upstate 5-2 in front of a near capacity crowd.
Spartanburg's new minor league team the Hub City Spartanburgers will be in action Wednesday night taking on the Hickory Crawdads in an exhibition game. Hickory and Hub City are both affiliates of the Texas Rangers.
The Spartanburgers officially open the season Friday. They'll be on the road until their home opener against Bowling Green on April 15th.
