(670 The Score) As training camp has opened with the Bears carrying sky-high championship expectations, general manager Ryan Pace is looking to keep perspective and find as many motivational tools as possible for his organization.
As he does, he doesn't have to look far. He just has to remind of how the Bears' previous season ended.
"As good as last year was and as good as we all feel, we didn't win a playoff game," Pace said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning. "What did we really do? That drive is there, that focus is there."
The Bears won the NFC North with a 12-4 mark before falling to the Eagles in the wild-card round. Pace never wants his team to forget that, as he believes it can push them to their ultimate goal now.
"Every year, our expectation is to win the Super Bowl," Pace said. "That's everyone in our building, and that should be our expectation. That's why we're in this. What's cool about it -- and I don't want to feel like it's just this kumbaya thing -- it's real. We have good chemistry in our building. It's not just the locker room. It's our staff. Everyone is rolling in the same direction. No egos, just what's best for the team. And you when when you have that, whether it's a business or it's a team. You've been part of successful programs, you can feel it. We can feel it.
"We got the right character on our team, the right coaching staff to make sure that complacency and that status quo never sets in."
