CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- Of all the reads quarterback Mitchell Trubisky made in a rough 36-25 loss to the Saints at Soldier Field on Sunday, none was more precise than the one he offered postgame.
"Right now, we have no identity," Trubisky said of the team's offense. "We're just searching."
Despite the latest poor performance from Trubisky, the Bears won't consider a change at quarterback. The team intends to move forward with the 25-year-old Trubisky, coach Matt Nagy said postgame Sunday.
"Yeah, absolutely," Nagy said.
Trubisky struggled for three quarters before compiling garbage-time numbers that made his statistics look more favorable. He finished 34-of-54 for 251 yards and two touchdowns and missed the mark on several key throws to open receivers.
Trubisky was starting his first game since recovering from a left shoulder injury that he suffered in the Bears' win over the Vikings on Sept. 29. He missed the team's loss in London on Oct. 6, a game started by backup quarterback Chase Daniel.
Trubisky felt his left shoulder was fine Sunday. Nagy saw some rust in his Trubisky's return.
"Probably a little bit," Nagy said. "But he wasn't the only one. It's all of us."
Nagy offered his optimism during the week that his offense would bounce back from its poor start. Instead, Sunday offered the latest disappointment and sampling of great regression.
The Bears posted 252 yards of offense and 4.0 yards per play in the loss, though those figures were skewed by a late-game letup from the Saints defense. Through three quarters, the Bears managed 85 yards of offense and 2.4 yards per play.
After another discouraging loss, Nagy, Trubisky and the Bears (3-3) are still searching for solutions.
"It's hard to pinpoint it," Trubisky said. "Just frustrating, ugly."
