The Cubs haven't had any players ask to opt out of playing the 2020 season, general manager Jed Hoyer told reporters in a media session Monday. The Cubs will respect the decision of any player who chooses to sit out 2020, Hoyer added.
On Monday, news broke that Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals right-hander Joe Ross and Diamondbacks right-hander Mike Leake will sit out the season.
The Cubs have had two staff members test positive for COVID-19 back home, Hoyer said without identifying them. They won't join camp until they're fully recovered. No Cubs player has tested positive for COVID-19, though they're in line to get tested Wednesday.
