(670 The Score) The Cubs won't bring back bullpen coach Lester Strode in 2020, Jesse Rogers of ESPN reported Wednesday morning.
The decision continues an overhaul for the Cubs after a disappointing 84-78 season in 2019. In addition to manager Joe Maddon being let go, the Cubs have revamped or are in the process of revamping their player development, scouting, mental skills and athletic training departments.
Strode, 61, had been the Cubs' bullpen coach since 2007 after he previously worked in the team's farm system for more than a decade.
The Cubs also recently lost third-base coach Brian Butterfield, who joined Maddon with the Angels. The Cubs are also continuing their search for a bench coach, hoping to put an experienced individual alongside first-time manager David Ross.
