(670 The Score) White Sox manager Tony La Russa will miss Tuesday night's game against the Royals at Guaranteed Rate Field due to a medical issue, the team announced.
The 77-year-old La Russa is scheduled to undergo further evaluation Wednesday. The White Sox didn't disclose further details on La Russa's status, only saying that the decision came "at the direction of his doctors." Bench coach Miguel Cairo will serve as acting manager.
La Russa was present with the White Sox during batting practice and held his pregame interview with the media. The team statement was released less than an hour before first pitch.
The White Sox plan to provide further details on La Russa's status prior to Wednesday's game.
