Four arrested after fights at Midlands Juneteenth Event

Four arrested after fights at Midlands Juneteenth Event
Columbia Police Department

Multiple fights turned what should have been a celebration into chaos in the Midlands. The Columbia Police Department says a number of mostly juveniles were involved in fights at the Juneteenth Celebration at Finlay Park, over the weekend. Three juveniles and one adult have already been arrested.

Video footage is being reviewed and more arrests are expected. No serious injuries or gunfire was expected. The City has now enacted a permanent rule that prohibits unaccompanied minors in the park. The policy calls for anyone 17 or younger to be in the company of a parent or another adult 21 or older after 5PM.

Columbia City Manager Teresa Wilson has vowed to put an end to incidents of this kind at local events.
