ATL Black Businesses Worth Checking Out On Juneteenth

Juneteenth is practically here and there have already been a ton of festivals, celebrations, and community events happening around the ATL. In addition to doing these things and visiting museums, you can also make an effort to support a black owned business to celebrate Juneteenth.

Thankfully the ATL is a place that is booming with black business and enterprise, so while this is not a list of all, check out our list of interesting and outside of the box black businesses that you may want to check out as you plan your Juneteenth celebrations.

Atlanta Influences Everything - The “Atlanta Influences Everything” movement is the brain child of an Ford and Ben Joiner and is more than a T-shirt. Their brand works to truly encompass the influence of Atlanta culture to connect communities.

God Is Dope - This popular Christian-based lifestyle brand has created a culture making Christianity look cool. They have a brick-and-mortar store on Edgewood Avenue where they sell T-shirts, hats and hoodies for men and women.

The Village at PCM - This is such an interesting concept from Lakeysha Hallmon and the Village family. This group had been very successful programming events for Black start-ups at locations throughout Atlanta, so they created The Village Market’s first-ever retail location where they run a market that curates apparel, furniture, food and other products by local Black business owners, artists and creatives on the second floor at Ponce City Market. The brands rotate brands every four months.

ZuCot Gallery - This is the largest African-American-owned art gallery in the Southeast. If you are looking to elevate your home, a trip to Castleberry Hill for art by local, living African American artists may be the thing to do. You can also view the exhibitions online and hit the merch page to support the gallery.

Moods Music- Another great place for music lovers, especially those who with a love for things like classic jazz, funk, or even afro Cuban music. This eclectic music shop that specializes in providing those rare, hard to find, but classic albums.

For Keeps - If you are a lover of books, For Keeps' collection of classic Black books are sold in this shop. Located on Auburn Ave, the shop also has a reading, and Rosa Duffy curates a collection of reading material where visitors can interact with history.

Miss D’s Pralines - Anyone that has ever been the Savannah or New Orleans knows how good and sweet a praline is! Not only does this candy shop located in the historic Sweet Auburn Curb Market sell pralines but they also sell also popcorn, candied apples and “pratzels,” a mash up of pralines and pretzels.

Respire Massage & Spa - This spa does it all from reflexology to lash treatments to body massage to sauna therapy. In fact, this spa was voted one of the top 15 Black-owned spas by Essence.

New Black Wall Street Market - This market encompasses a collection of vendors, shops, food, and more! Their mission “to increase the size and number of minority and women-owned businesses throughout the United States.” Click here for more information.

Cascade - All ATL natives know that if you're going skating on the Westside, then Cascade is the place to be! They have family, teen, and adult times available making it the perfect place for every skater, of all ages.

Golden Glide - All ATL natives know that if you're going skating on the Eastside, then Golden Glide is the place to be! They have family, teen, and adult times available making it the perfect place for every skater, of all ages.
