The 96th annual Academy Awards took place on Sunday night, and this year, the African American representation in the categories was pretty scarce. Still, we did get jaw dropping red carpet moments from celebs like Lupita Nyong'o, Regina King, Zendaya, Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade.

Although there were not a ton of African American nominees, three African Americans did walk away with one of the coveted gold trophies. Da'Vine Joy Randolph won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "The Holdovers," Cord Jefferson won the Oscar for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) for his work in "American Fiction," and Kris Bowers won the Oscar for Documentary Short Film for "The Last Repair Shop."
