Heading into the All Star Break, Braves pitcher and All Star Bryce Elder had the worst start of his career against the Tampa Bay Rays, lasting just 3.1 innings while allowing 7 runs, but on Tuesday night he was even worse.

Bryce Elder's start against the Arizona Diamondbacks covered just 2.2 innings and 92.9 the Game Braves Insider Grant McAuley detailed why Bryce Elder struggled when he isn't extremely sharp.

"He's not going to be able to make-up for missing a location like Strider or Morton," says McAuley, "and that is one of the reasons why when he's around the plate so much, maybe just off a bit command-wise, for a lineup that can swing the bat well, just like that Rays matchup, the wrong lineup on the wrong day for Elder."

For Elder, who was hoping to erase the memory of that poor outing against Tampa Bay with a strong showing against Arizona, he's in need of a good start next time through to make the back-to-back poor starts a thing of the past.
