Atlanta Public School, one of Georgia’s largest districts, announced on Tuesday they have decided to cancel their mass vaccination event scheduled for April 21. The event was in partnership with Walgreens to offer teachers and staff the opportunity to receive the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
In a statement, the district cited their decision:
In accordance with the decision to pause Johnson & Johnson vaccinations issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health under the guidance of the FDA and the CDC, the Atlanta Public Schools’ staff vaccination event planned for Wednesday, April 21, in partnership with Walgreens has been cancelled.
APS says its previously scheduled event for the second Pfizer shot will still be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on April 14.
