Why Pascal Siakam fits as potential target for Hawks to strengthen roster after John Collins trade

Atlanta Hawks' front office sets sights on new additions after trading John Collins to Utah Jazz

On Monday, the Atlanta Hawks made a trade sending their 2017 first-round draft pick John Collins to the Utah Jazz. Following the trade, both media and fans started speculating on who the Hawks might have their sights set on as a replacement for Collins.

During an interview with The Morning Shift, Brad Rowland, the host of the Locked on Hawks Podcast, was asked if there were any specific players the Hawks should target and who would be a good fit. Rowland mentioned that the name most commonly linked to the Hawks at the moment is Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors.

Siakam is currently under contract with the Raptors but will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2023-2024 season. In his last season, Siakam is due to earn $37.9 million, compared to Collins' $25.3 million.

Rowland believes that Siakam would be an excellent addition to the Hawks, citing his skills in the pick-and-roll game, All-Star status, and defensive presence. However, he also cautions that the asking price from the Raptors might be too high for the trade to materialize.

On a positive note, despite the trade of Collins, Rowland doesn't see any significant weaknesses in the Hawks' roster.
