Every week that goes by seemingly makes one thing ever more clear: it is not the Braves' season. Just about everything possible that could go wrong has gone wrong. Whether it's the new hitting approach brought by Tim Hyers, to injuries to key players like Chris Sale, Spencer Strider and more, there are zero indications that this current version of the Braves is going to drastically turn things around. Steak and Abe Gordon discussed the predicament this morning on The Steakhouse.
So, what should the Braves do this summer when hot stove season gets cranked up from a simmer to a sautee? Should Alex Anthopoulos push the envelope and try to bring players in? One could make the case that the team could acquire player(s) that could help both this season and beyond in the lineup.
Or, on the other hand could the team actually turn into sellers this July? The Braves farm system has been massively depleted over the past few years. But restocking that cupboard means parting with quality players that other teams want. Gordon suggested he'd have been in favor of trading away Chris Sale, though his current broken rib makes that a more difficult situation.
Whatever Alex Anthopoulos decides, they will be important decisions that will help determine the future of the organization that one would assume should be back in contention as soon as next year.
