Come Friday night, the Atlanta Hawks will either be leaving State Farm Arena to head to Cleveland for the start of a best-of-seven-game series with the Cavaliers, or clearing out their lockers to begin summer vacations early as their season will officially be over.
And while the Hawks season hinges on the results of Friday, Mike Conti shared why he believes Friday will be “one of the most important games of Trae Young’s career” in terms of the impact on his legacy.
“This is a legacy game for him as far as this season,” Conti said as he joined Carl Dukes and Mike Bell explaining why he believes Young’s growth as a passer, leading the NBA with an average of 11.6 assists per game and league total 880, and defender this season have showed his overall growth as a player.
“Trae had a fantastic season as a distributor," Conti said. "His scoring numbers went down because he elected to pass the ball more. I love that and I think Trae continues to show more effort on defense.“
Conti said he believes Friday night will be a significant moment for Young’s career.
“The Hawks are not going to win this game if Trae does not have a 28 and 10 type of night,” Conti said.
