(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — White Sox legend and Hall of Famer slugger Frank Thomas has bought a controlling interest in the company that owns Iowa's iconic "Field of Dreams.”
The company, Go The Distance Baseball, didn't reveal the price as the deal was announced Thursday.
Thomas will be the CEO of the venture, and former White Sox executive and Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Dan Evans will be chief operating officer.
The company owns the movie set used in the classic Kevin Costner film "Field of Dreams” as well as the baseball field that is now used for special Major League Baseball games.
The White Sox and Yankees played at the baseball field in August, with Chicago winning in dramatic fashion on star shortstop Tim Anderson's walk-off homer.
Other parts of the property are expected to be redeveloped.
