BUFFALO (WBEN) - Buffalo Police announced the arrest of seven individuals and the recovery of more than $1 million in cash, drugs, and weapons in connection to an investigation involving numerous law enforcement agencies.
In a Thursday press conference, law enforcement announced they seized $948,000 in cash, seven handguns, two shotguns, an assault rifle, 12 pounds of cocaine, 200 pounds of marijuana, and $500,000 in other assets, including jewelry and vehicles.
"When we work together, we get results together that remove serious criminals from our streets and make our neighborhoods safer," said Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood. "I want to thank all of the enforcement partners for their collaboration in this investigation."
Like Lockwood, Kevin Kelly of Homeland Security thanked all parties involved, reiterating the value this investigation added to the community.
"Through these efforts, we seized over $1.4 million in cash and assets and over 12 pounds of cocaine with a street value of $300,000," said Kelly. "This is a significant financial disruption in the day-to-day operations of this criminal network. Essentially, we blocked a major cartel coming into our communities."
