Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - In what was a community show of support Friday evening as the Allentown Association came together in an event to remember The Old Pink. The event was planned before Thursday's announcement that the June 17 fire that destroyed the popular bar was an arson.

Jonathan White with the Allentown Association says this was part of the First Friday already announced before Thursday's ruling.

"I don't think it really changes anything. I think what everyone who had an affinity or a passion for that nice spot is just simply sad that it's no longer there. I think that back whether it was arson, whether it was an accident, really doesn't change any of that," said White in an interview with WBEN.

White says The Old Pink had been around since the 1940s, and is a place many people will remember findly.

"You talk to people, they'll say they have their first date there, they'll say that they would met, meet friends there to commiserate. There are people who got engaged there. There are people who just went there because they had no place else to go. And they met friends," White added.

Friday evening, the Allentown Association, Resurgence Brewery and Mulligan’s Brick Bar sponsored "A Remembrance for the Old Pink". The event was held on the site of the iconic bar, and featured a special DJ set featuring the Pink’s own DJ, EVR.

Comeback - "The Old Pink" merchandise from 26 Shirts, along with $5 Pink Flamingo yard signs to benefit the staff of the Pink, was available on site.
