Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - An Angola man will spend the next 5-to-15 years in prison after admitting to causing a deadly crash in the Southtowns last summer. 54-year-old Markus Genovese also saw his driver's license revoked.
Earlier this year, Genovese admitted to driving a pickup truck without a license and under the influence on Route 5 in Hamburg when he caused a collision with an SUV, which was stopped at an intersection to make a left-hand turn onto Eckhardt Road.
Genovese abandoned his vehicle and ran from the scene. He was later located in the nearby woods a short time later by responding officers, and transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center.
However, 8-year-old Thomas Ross died in the crash, while another 4-year-old boy was injured.
