Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Early voting for Tuesday's Primary elections is over.

"11,621 ballots have been cast during nine days of early voting, plus mail-in ballots received at the Board of Elections," said Erie County Elections Commissioner Ralph Mohr with WBEN on Monday.

That represents about 6% of those eligible to vote throughout the county.

About 60% of the ballots cast were cast in the City of Buffalo, where over 7,300 votes were tallied. That represents about 8% of eligible voters in the city.

Mohr says he was a little surprised at the low turnout in the city.

"It's down from past primaries," he said. "Initially when we started early voting there was a great deal of enthusiasm. The numbers were much higher than in years past. This year seems to be slow and steady. Each of the mayoral candidates were able to get their base out, but the amount of the vote was so low that this is a race that certainly will be decided tomorrow, on Primary day."

Primary day voting on Tuesday is from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. in Erie County.
There is no voting on Monday, as the Board of Elections gets ready for Primary Day.

"We're anticipating each of the polling locations in the city to be busy Tuesday, and we anticipate having something definitive by 11 p.m.," Mohr said.

There are also key primary elections taking place in Hamburg, Alden, Elma, Amherst, and Orchard Park.

If anyone has questions about where to vote, or if they are eligible to vote, you can call the Erie County Board of Elections at (716)-858-8891 or check your status HERE.

WBEN will provide LIVE Primary results Tuesday night when the polls close at 9 p.m. with Joe Beamer and David Bellavia.
