KeyBank Center roof work 65% complete

Work is expected to be completed by mid-August

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The roof of KeyBank Center in Downtown Buffalo is getting replaced, as announced by the Sabres earlier this year. WBEN is getting a status report on the work.

"We're restoring all the roof systems throughout the facility," says Adam McWilliams of Pike Construction.

The work will include the main arena, and then the small roofing systems around it. When it's done, McWilliams says the roof will look the same: White, and the same logos on top.

McWilliams says safety is utmost during this project.

"During weather events, such as rain, high winds, we do not work on those days. Then for the top main roof, there's a guardrail system all the way around the outside to prevent any leading edge fall hazards," explained McWIlliams in an interview with WBEN.

He says anywhere from 15-to-25 people are working at one time.

The work should be done by mid-August, says McWilliams. He adds the arena will be waterproof and better than ever with the new roof.
